Rad Race Team to organize Fixed Gear World Championship in Berlin

Since day one Angefixed has accompanied the Rad Race guys and gals. From an early stage on it was clear that the team would do things by halves. Already the first Rad Race event as part of the Berliner Fahrradschau in March 2014 was a blast – a fixed gear race on an indoor go-cart track, which was great for the riders and spectators alike. More Rad Race events included an uphill race in Frankfurt and a sprint competition in the scope of the professional Münsterland Giro bike race.

In 2015 there are again some Rad Races planned, the first one they communicated a few days ago, shows that they are going big this year. The German capital of Berlin will host, as the Rad Race website puts it, a “Fixed 42 World Championship” on May 31st. At the same time – and I am guessing that the “Fixed 40 Two”, as the race is officially called, will be held during that event – the navigation device manufacturer Garmin is holding the Velothon in Berlin. The Velothon is a marathon race for bikers, going over the distances of 60, 120 or 180 (Pros only) kilometers. Maybe the fixed gear course will be shorter, explaining the 42k in the name.

Regardless of how long the course is in the end, the highlight will presumably be the final stretch along the “Strasse des 17. Juni” towards the Brandenburg Gate.

More information is to come in the next days. So stay tuned.
